น้ำเต้าคล้าม (Nam Tao Klom) หรือ Lagenaria siceraria ชื่ออื่นๆคือ white flower gourd หรือ Upo หรือ Opo ส่วนตัวแบบกลมนี้เป็นพันธุ์ผสม ต้องการอากาศร้อนมากและสามารถรับมือกับการขาดน้ำได้ดี ผมปลูกพันธุ์นี้ในถาดขนาดเล็กและให้น้ำน้อยมากถึงขั้นที่แห้งแล้ว ฉันต้องการมีมะเขือเยอะๆในการทำอาหาร สิ่งที่ดีที่สุดที่ฉันเคยกินที่ไทยคือมะเขือ ณ ร้านอาหารมังสวิรัติกับพลายและโรส ผมไม่รู้ว่าเป็นพันธุ์มะเขืออะไร แต่เป็นอาหารที่อร่อยและมีลักษณะเนื้อสัมผัสดี ฉันต้องหาว่ามะเขือนั้นเป็นชนิดไหน พันธุ์นี้ต้องการการดูแลที่น้อยมาก จะดีก็ถ้ามีมะเขือมากๆในการทำอาหารที่นั่น พันธุ์ที่ผมปลูกนี้ใช้เวลาเกิดต้นกว่าหนึ่งเดือน ฉันคิดว่าอากาศไม่ร้อนพอ ถ้าปลูกที่นั่นจะงอกได้เร็วขึ้น แต่พันธุ์นี้เติบโตได้เร็วและใช้เวลาในการออกผลนาน ถ้าคุณปลูกตอนนี้ก็อาจจะมีพร้อมก่อนที่เราจะออกเดินทางไปในเดือนตุลาคม ถ้าหากคุณหาพันธุ์ผสมแบบกลมไม่พบก็ไม่เป็นไร ร้านขายเมล็ดพันธุ์น่าจะมีพันธุ์มากมาย ผมจะแนะนำสถานที่ซื้อเมล็ดพันธ

Nam Tao Klom. Lagenaria siceraria. Also called white flower gourd or Upo or Opo. The round one is a hybrid. This needs very hot weather and also can deal very well with very low water at times. I let this one dry out completely and it was grown in a very small container with very little water. I need to have many different types of gourds to cook with. One of the best things I ever ate there in Thailand was a gourd at a vegetarian restaurant with Palay and Rose. I don’t know what type of gourd it was but it was served boiled with a curry. It was amazing in both texture and flavor. I have to find out which gourd that was. these gourds require very little care. It would be great to have as many as possible to cook with while there. These gourds that I grew took over a month to germinate. I believe it wasn’t hot enough. They will germinate faster there. The grew quickly and it takes a while to produce a gourd. If you plant them now then they might be ready before we leave in October. If you cannot find the round hybrid then that is fine. The seed store should have many types available. I will show the location of the store where I looked for seeds.
