Fresh AND exotic
More and more exotic herbs and vegetables and exciting flavors are becoming available everywhere. Asians bring their dietary habits with them and the rest of us get to enjoy the resulting product availability. The availability of some of these fresh herbs in a growing number of local Asian supermarkets is exciting. Yet still, the availability is not consistent and not convenient for the nature of their use. Cuttings from fresh living herbs immediately added to salads or as garnish have crisp clean flavors. We'll be growing Pak Kayang year round for use in salads and garnish. This amazing and underutilized herb is traditionally grown and harvested in flooded rice paddies between rice crops and can be found piled high in fresh markets in Isaan ( around these times.
